Foshan, Guangdong textile industry exports fell by 6% in April

According to relevant statistics provided by Guangdong Gaoming Office of Foshan Customs, the textile and apparel industry, one of the eight largest industrial clusters, exported $210 million in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 6.46%.

As a smart traditional industry, textiles and garments currently have a total of more than 100 textile and apparel companies, many of which are exported to Europe and the United States. However, due to the increasingly stringent technical trade measures for textile products and the continued escalation of the European debt crisis, exports of textile and apparel products have been affected.

In the first four months of this year, Gaoming's textile and apparel exports reached 210 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 6.46% compared to last year. Among them, 100 million U.S. dollars worth of garments and clothing accessories were exported, down 6.21%; and 110 million U.S. dollars were exported for textile yarns, fabrics and products, down 6.69%. Of these products, processing trade exports accounted for nearly 80%. In the first four months of this year, Gaoming exported 635 million U.S. dollars in textiles and clothing, which was 7.48% lower than the same period last year.

“It cannot be overlooked that the export of textiles and garments in the first four months of this year is declining every month.” Relevant person in charge of the Foshan Customs Office at Gaoming Office stated that the highest decline rate was in January, a drop of 19.36%; the lowest In April, the rate of decline was 3.99%.

The decline in exports will inevitably affect companies. It is reported that the original product price advantage of some enterprises is becoming less obvious, and the advantages of the industry chain are gradually disappearing. The production and operation of some textile and garment enterprises in Gaoming District are in trouble.
