Chemical fabrics enter the era of coding
Chemical fiber textiles represent a category of products that experience rapid changes in style, structure, and production processes. In China, the absence of standardized naming and coding systems for these fabrics has led to inconsistencies across different information systems. As a result, various management platforms use different names, codes, and structures for the same textile items, creating barriers to efficient data exchange and significantly impacting the textile trade.
Starting December 1st, the newly implemented national standard "Code for Textile Fabrics (Chemical Fibers)" aims to resolve this confusion and fill a long-standing gap in China's textile fabric standards. This standard is expected to streamline communication and improve efficiency in the industry.
Developed under the supervision of the National Article Code Standardization Technical Committee, the standard was first proposed by Wujiang City Silk Capital Shengze E-commerce Information Co., Ltd. The China Textile Information Center and the China Article Numbering Center jointly contributed to its drafting. After more than three years of refinement and adjustments, it has now been officially recognized as a national standard.
According to Shi Bin, Manager of the Textile Fabric Coding Office at Shengjiang E-commerce Information Co., Ltd., these codes function like a "unique identity card" for each fabric. They provide detailed information about the main raw materials, yarn structure, weaving methods, and other essential details. The chemical fiber textile code consists of 17 digits, combining a name code and an attribute code. Designed with scientific accuracy, versatility, practicality, and scalability in mind, this system is well-suited for use in textile production, sales, logistics, e-commerce, and information processing.
This new standard not only enhances transparency and traceability but also supports the digital transformation of the textile industry, making it easier for businesses to operate in an increasingly connected global market.
