East Asian Arts and Crafts Classic Exhibition: Hui Art Collection

Entering the “East Asian Art and Fine Arts Classic Exhibition”, one piece of beautifully crafted, or conceptually novel, or unique materials, fully demonstrates the infinite pursuit of human art and the deep care of human beings.

As soon as we step into the Fudi Culture and Art Museum, a series of bright "oil paintings" will come into view. However, as we approached it, we found that it was not the oil paint that was used to draw these “oil paintings”, but a colored thread with a silky sheen. The screen not only showed the level, texture, and rich color of the oil painting, but also The unique texture and brilliance of the silk embroideries gives the visual enjoyment of warmth and irony. This unique "drawing method" is a "Sichuan embroidery" with a thousand-year history.

"Sichuan Embroidery", also known as "Song Embroidery", became famous throughout the Song Dynasty and is a wonderful flower in China's embroidery art. It is characterized by exquisite embroidery, detailed acupuncture, rigorous design, elegant style and beautiful colors. Its art has been included in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list. "Chang embroidery" not only vividly expresses Western paintings, but also vividly embroiders the traditional Chinese paintings of flowers, birds, and figures and landscapes. At this exhibition, Van Gogh's oil painting "Starry Sky", Zheng Banqiao's "Bamboo" four-screen, Zhang Huan's "Lady's Lady's Spring Tour" and other fine paintings based on Chinese and foreign famous paintings are displayed.

In contrast to the mildness and beauty of “Changxiu”, the bronze sculptures brought by the well-known Korean artist Jin Fan give people a hard feeling. In his works, whether it is young "thinkers", praying maidens, or jumping dolphins, wings eagles, with a strong personal experience and deep philosophical thinking.

On the side of the booth, a set of small red tea sets still exudes a dazzling brilliance in many colourful handicrafts. This is the work of master craftsman Han Meilin. This seemingly simple tea set, but contains a subtle idea. The red enamel and mellow body reveal a rich Chinese flavor, while the copper handle and the cup-eared ear of the tea bowl on the teapot convey a concise Western character. This set of tea sets that are both practical and beautiful makes the arts vividly integrated into life.

Professors and teachers of the Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts also brought their works. Old-fashioned, dimly colored ceramics, abstract shapes, quirky glass products, and beautiful, light and practical rattan make people feel that art is everywhere. Duan Jianhua, Dean of the School of Modern Handicraft Arts at Shandong Institute of Arts and Design, said that the “Arts and Crafts Exhibition” can be said to be a fine collection with a high level of art. This provides Weihai art workers with the opportunity to learn from and learn from, and is also accepted by the general public. Art nurtures the opportunity to improve the artistic accomplishment.

In the exhibition, the use of innovative materials and modern technology to represent traditional arts and crafts, also made an eye-opener. The ceramic artist Feng Shaohui from Jingdezhen brought with him the “Simple Porcelain” that he invented and inspired by Bamboo Slips. A set of "Jinling 12" porcelain jewels was exhibited at the scene, and 12 gold figures were painted on 120 pieces of porcelain, which attracted the attention of the visitors. The handicrafts and decorative handicrafts made of inlaid pecan and mahogany exhibited by a Weihai handicraft company use the exquisite designs of pecans to create exquisite stylings that are refreshing. The "seagrass house" model they produced also displayed the fisherman's style in a detailed and vivid manner. Another company's enamel color arts and crafts uses cloisonne production technology, which is mainly made of artificially inlaid gold alloy wire, and is complemented by colorful natural glazes, making the traditional calligraphy and painting arts more beautiful. Colorful visual effects, but also has the characteristics of moisture, dust, and fade.

The crafts such as dough, paper-cuts, and colorful cotton paintings with local characteristics of Weihai also shined on the exhibition. These works have won high praise from foreign artists for their superb artistic level and distinctive cultural features.
